About Pump Fit
Pump Fit is a tempo training fitness app that helps you control the speed of your lifts for better muscle gains. It also tracks outdoor activities such as runs and rides, and lets you share workouts with people you choose. This policy explains how we handle your data, and applies to the Pump Fit apps for iOS, watchOS and Android.
Information We Collect
Pump Fit collects the following data to provide its core functionality:
- Name: Your display name, used for your account profile
- Email address: Used to identify your account, to verify it, and to send you a sign-in code when you sign in without a passkey
- User ID: A unique identifier for your account
- Fitness data: Workouts, exercises, sets, reps, weights, durations and notes you log
- Location: When, and only when, you record an outdoor activity such as a run or a ride, the app reads your device's precise location to measure distance and pace and to draw your route. That route is saved with the completed workout. The app does not track your location in the background or when no outdoor activity is running.
- Photos and videos: Your profile picture, any photo or video you attach to an exercise or a set, and any screenshot or screen recording you attach to a bug report
- Health data: On iOS and watchOS, heart rate and related workout data from Apple Health, with your permission. The Android version distributed on Google Play ships without any Health Connect integration and reads no health data.
- Crash and diagnostic data: See Crash Reporting below
- Product interaction: Usage analytics, so we can measure active and returning users and understand which features are used. Before you create an account, these events are keyed to a randomly generated device identifier rather than to you.
How We Use Your Data
Your data is used exclusively to:
- Provide workout tracking and tempo training features
- Measure distance, pace and elevation, and draw the route map, for outdoor activities
- Sync your workouts across your devices
- Display your heart rate on completed workout summaries
- Show your activity to the people you have chosen to share it with
- Improve app stability through crash reporting
- Understand how features are used to improve the app
We do not use your data to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell it.
Data Storage
Your workout data is stored locally on your device and synced to our secure servers (Google Cloud) so you can access it across devices. Photos and videos you add are uploaded to our storage on Google Cloud. Your data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS.
On iOS and watchOS, health data such as heart rate is read from Apple Health and displayed within the app. Heart rate summaries recorded during a workout are stored with that workout so they can be shown on your device and on your workout summary.
Crash Reporting
On iOS, Pump Fit uses Firebase Crashlytics to collect anonymous crash reports automatically, so we can find and fix bugs.
On Android, there is no automatic crash reporting service. When the app crashes, the stack trace is written to the app's own storage on your device. It leaves your device only if you choose to send us a bug report, in which case it is attached to that report along with the device model, OS version, app version, and any screenshot or recording you add.
Third-Party Services
Pump Fit uses the following third-party services:
- Google Cloud: Hosts our servers, database, and the storage for photos and videos you upload
- Firebase Crashlytics (iOS only): Anonymous crash reporting to help us identify and fix bugs
- Firebase Analytics (iOS only): Usage data, associated with a pseudonymous account identifier, to understand how features are used and measure active users
The Android app uses neither Crashlytics nor Firebase Analytics; its usage events go only to our own servers. We do not use any advertising or cross-app tracking services on any platform, and the apps do not access your device's advertising identifier.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with third parties for their own purposes.
Within the app, your data is shared only as you direct it. Your completed workouts, including any route map and any photos you attached, are visible to your followers. You can make your account private, so that people must ask before they can follow you, and you can limit your activity to a list of approved followers. You can hide the route map on any individual outdoor workout, and deleting a workout removes it for everyone. A workout you share with a specific person via the sharing feature is visible to that person. Workout notes are personal and are never included when a workout is shared.
Your Rights
You have full control over your data:
- Delete your account: You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the app's settings
- Control who sees your activity: You can make your account private, limit your activity to approved followers, remove followers, hide the route map on any outdoor workout, and delete any workout, all from within the app
- Location access: Location is only requested when you start an outdoor activity, and you can revoke it at any time in your device's settings. The rest of the app continues to work without it.
- Health data access: On iOS, you can revoke Pump Fit's access to Apple Health at any time in your device's Settings
- Delete local data: Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data
Security
Pump Fit uses passkey authentication for secure, passwordless sign-in wherever your device supports it. All communication with our servers uses encrypted HTTPS connections.
Because not every device can create a passkey, you can also sign in with an email address, using either a password or a one-time code we email you. If you set a password, it is salted and cryptographically hashed before it is stored. We never store it in a readable form, and neither your password nor its hash is ever returned by our API.
Children
Pump Fit is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
